What you can do to help

Our volunteers contribute a lot to making Nelson neighbourhoods safer and friendlier places to live. Below are some of the things our volunteers do:

  • Neighbourhood Support group co-ordinator: helps neighbours in their group connect and communicate with each other, and keeps the group ticking along
  • Office volunteer: helps out in the Neighbourhood Support Nelson office, with tasks such as data entry, organising files, scanning and laminating documents, and mailouts.
  • Event volunteer: helps out at community events which Neighbourhood Support Nelson is involved in.
  • Handy-person volunteer:  help  with putting up and taking down signage and other odd jobs that come up.
  • IT advice: provides advice on website development, social media, computer software and hardware.
  • Neighbourhood Support Nelson governance committee member: sits on the governance committee, which sets the strategy and goals for the organisation. The committee meets every six weeks. You can find out more here.
